Joan Of Arcasis
Joan of Arc has allways stood out to me as the odd duck of witch trials. To the Catholics, she was a holy savior, to the protistants a witch. I've fallen into Joan of Arc rabbit holes throuout my life. I've always invisioned a diffrent ending for Joan.
In the Fabled Galaxy, Joan is born a peasant on the planet Arcassis. Her planet has been at war for 100 years. A giant red anchor looms over the planet, swinging above cities of its choosing, ocasionally, to crush them to dust and granite. The Red Anchor has been present on the planet Arcassis for one hundred years. Mostly waiting, looming above kingdoms.
In this time, the men of Arcasis fought religious wars over their precieved ideas and interpretations of the desires of the Red Anchor. For 100 years, the planet fought and people died bloody violent deaths.

Then one day, the Red Anchor moved above a peasant's farmhouse. A simple farmhouse of an athletic young peasant girl named Joan. At age 16, the boys would never challenge Joan to races or fights, because they knew she would win. Joan was alone when the angels of the Red Anchor came, seven giant rusted fish hooks. They span around joan, she could hear their voice. They told Joan that she was the chosen one. Chosen to end the chaos and bloodshed. She is chosen by the Red Anchor.
Joan went before her King and told him of her experience with the angels. She told him she was chosen to make the Red Anchor go away forever. She was chosen to lead an army across Arcasis and push back the nation of Nitania, which held dominance over the Kingdom. The King said he admired her faith and purity; surely the Anchor has chosen a true, holy warrior. Joan was given an Army.
An interesting thing happened on the way to the King. She met a thief on the road. He tried to rob her. But Joan spoke of the Red Anchor and her visions. The thief was so moved by her, he chose to follow her instead of robbing her. He became a general in her army, General Bluebeard.
Anyway, a lot of interesting stuff happens in the story of Joan. She wins a major victory for the king. She slays a few beasts of the nation of Nitania, she saves a princess from a kidnapping plot, and She kills a few Generals of the Nits, the entire tide of the 100 year war changes the power structure of Arcadia forever. She's beloved by her people and celebrated as a true holy warrior.
But at the next major battle, her army is defeated and she is captured.
